Job description

Are you the Technical Team Manager who understands that achieving optimal production of our high-tech machine 'Ella' can only be realized when colleagues are in a positive state of mind? Do you have technical experience and insight, along with the ability to connect with people easily? Are you skilled in capacity planning, ready to lead the team and provide support when necessary? With your leadership experience, are you adventurous enough to meet our growth ambitions? If so, you might be the one we're looking for!
About our company
Since we started out in 2011, we have been developing an automated process to determine the sex of a chick while still inside the egg. We aim to prevent the hatching and then culling of billions of male chicks worldwide just because they do not lay eggs. In 2020, we installed the first version of our Ella machine in a hatchery. Since then, we have developed the technology further, and a new, improved Ella began operating in 2022.

Ella is only the initial step on our journey, our first pioneering innovation. We are determined to develop our business further and create many more innovative ideas. When it comes to animal welfare and climate change, all sorts of challenges exist and cry out for imaginative ideas and unconventional solutions. These are precisely the challenges that drive us forward.

At In Ovo, we combine analytical insight with a no-nonsense approach. We don't get caught up in endless discussions. And we don't stare at the screen for hours on end. We look at the hatcheries from the inside. Because our solutions have to work for them if what we do is to succeed.

Your role

In the role of Technical Team Manager, you are essential, along with Mechanical Engineers and technical operators, to ensure the optimal performance of our high-quality machine. During production, you identify operational challenges and systematically work to find solutions by deploying the right people to various projects. You are also responsible for facilitating repair work and managing the preventive maintenance plan. Additionally, you carry the responsibility for developing the competencies of individual team members, guiding them in setting goals, conducting assessments, and supporting their personal development journeys.

Your leadership skills shine through in effectively communicating your vision and actions to the team, motivating them, and providing support where needed to successfully complete projects. You regularly report on the status and progress of projects to management and oversee the operations of the engineering team, including time tracking, administration, and WBSO-related matters. In the event of incidents during shifts, you and your team are ready to analyze potential issues and find solutions to restore operational processes as quickly as possible.

Once you have gained a deep understanding of your team and the machine, you can assist in establishing and supporting operational processes at future locations, both within and outside of Europe. In such cases, you will travel internationally on a regular basis. With expected growth, the coming years will bring variety to your work, and you will coordinate capacity planning discussions to determine project allocations in collaboration with project managers. You report to the Product Manager and foster a culture of collaboration and communication within the team.

Furthermore:

We also offer the following:

  • A scale-up company setting that allows you to benefit from unique opportunities that have a global impact on animal welfare
  • A ground-breaking environment where you enjoy a lot of responsibility and can constantly seek out new opportunities and ways to develop
  • A salary between € 4.750 and € 6,500, depending on your working experience
  • 25 days holiday per year (and the option to buy more), a pension and a working-from-home allowance
